NYU Tisch School of the Arts: High School Programs

SCHOOL YEAR:
During the spring semester, Tisch School of the Arts invites freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from high schools in the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester County, Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania to attend a FREE 12- to 14-week Saturday workshop from February – May.

SUMMER:

During the summer the Tisch School of the Arts offers high school students the chance to participate in intensive training either in New York City or Singapore. Through these programs students gain an enriching and enlightening experience, and a better understanding of the nature of a professional training program. In each of our four-week programs, students are enrolled in rigorous and highly structured college-level courses taught by our full-time faculty. Upon successful completion of the summer program, students earn six college credits, all fully accredited New York University courses.

Third Street Music School Settlement

Third Street Music School Settlement is the oldest community school of music in the country, Third Street has a long history of providing excellent instruction and community access to the arts.

While we run on an academic year that begins in September, plus summer programs, enrollment remains open year round, as long as classes and studios have openings.

Brant Lake Dance Camp

The program is oriented for active girls who love to dance. At BLDC, girls will increase their dance (skills and knowledge), have the opportunity to perform and enjoy a well-rounded, exciting summer in a nurturing environment. Dance instruction and performance at Brant Lake Dance Camp feature Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Tap as well as Choreography (EnChoreo) At BLDC we understand the need for a young woman to have and make choices. A camper may choose two – six dance classes a day and she has daily choices of a wide variety of activities, sports and socials.

Purelements An Evolution in Dance

Purelements An Evolution in Dance (PE) is an innovative 501c3 performing arts organization that delivers high quality programming and ignites a new powerful and provocative energy around dance. Purelements goals are to use the performing arts to empower people to live healthy, creative and balanced lifestyles; to increase self-awareness and cultural appreciation; and to break down barriers of social ignorance by bridging gaps between diverse communities through arts education and programming.

COAR (Center of Artistic Refinement)
COAR serves as our 10 month training program and provides an intense and innovative learning environment for our diverse student body aged 3-21. Students who are interested in intensive studies in dance and the performing arts attend COAR. Urban youth driven to pursue the arts as a profession and/or career in arts education dedicate hours of their weekend schedules to study various dance techniques toward professional and artistic refinement. Students present all techniques learned during their annual end of year Concert!

SOCAPA Summer Dance Program

SOCAPA’s Summer Dance Program is a Contemporary Jazz and Hip-Hop intensive that also features specialty classes in Breakdancing, African and Musical Theater. Classes are geared towards learning cutting-edge choreography at a professional pace and preparing routines to be featured in live theater performances and in dance videos shot by SOCAPA instructors. This provides students in our Dance Program with a video portfolio featuring a number of their performances in a variety of projects.

You Must Enroll For The 3 Week Dance Intensive In Either of these Campuses: New York City Campuses, Los Angeles Campus or Vermont Campus.

New York State Summer School of the Arts

The New York State Summer School of the Arts provides intensive pre-professional training programs with internationally acclaimed artists and artistic companies. Schools include the Schools of Ballet, Choral Studies, Dance, Media Arts, Orchestral Studies, Theatre and Visual Arts. These schools are open to all New York State high school age students who qualify through regional auditions.

Tuition assistance is available based upon financial need.

Applications deadlines vary throughout the Winter/Spring depending on a program.
