Museum for African Art

The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) uses the visual arts as a point of departure for exploring new artistic production across a variety of disciplines. Through exhibitions and programming, MoCADA incites dialogue on pressing social and political issues facing the African Diaspora, and fosters a dynamic space for the creation and continuous evolution of culture.

Each year, MoCADA hosts 8-10 high school and college interns throughout the year in order to provide hands-on experience working at a non-profit arts institution.

Interns are encouraged to think about what it means to create a legacy that will ultimately benefit their communities. While at MoCADA, interns receive the unique and challenging experience of working in a smaller institution, where departments overlap and a small number of individuals are working together on numerous projects. Interns are able to take their experiences and knowledge and translate them into the global landscape. It is MoCADA’s hope to create a network of interns that continue to support the mission of furthering awareness of the African Diaspora in whatever endeavors they may embark upon.

Interns must commit to a work schedule of at least 3 days per week, as well as attendance at all MoCADA events unless otherwise specified, which may include nights and weekends. MoCADA’s Internship Program also includes Field Trips, Artist Lectures, and Professional Development Brown-Bag Lunch Conversations and Workshops.
