Alzheimer’s Association Volunteers

The New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association has nearly 500 volunteers who participate in the work of the Chapter in a variety of ways. Whether you can spare only a little bit of time or make a more significant time commitment we hope that you will join us in our very special community.

There are many ways to volunteer.

Special Events
Help us raise money for the New York City Chapter through events such as Memory Walk and our annual gala. Volunteers needed to assist with event set-up, greeting and registering guests, as well as marketing and promotion in the community
Hours : varies

Educational Meetings and Seminars
Greet and register seminar participants and assist with informational materials to be distributed.
Hours: 2 hours, one evening per month.

Health Fairs, Street Fairs, Agency Fairs
“Man” an Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter table at health fairs, agency fairs, and street fairs (Spring/Summer/Fall). Answer basic questions on Alzheimer’s disease to senior groups, corporate offices, community centers, and schools. Volunteer training provided by Alzheimer’s Association. English and Bi-lingual Spanish speaking volunteers needed.
Hours: varies

Translation Services
Translate written materials, such as newsletters, website stories, and various letters and informational packets, from English to Spanish, Chinese, Russian.
Hours: can be done from home- volunteer can pick up materials, or they’ll be faxed, or emailed.

Speakers Bureau
Make presentations about Alzheimer’s disease to senior centers, community organizations, clubs, congregations, and schools. Volunteer training provided by Alzheimer’s Association. English and Bi-Lingual Spanish or Chinese volunteers needed.
Hours : varies, speaking engagements take place on a periodic basis.

Chapter Administration
Assist in the many administrative tasks needed to keep our chapter running smoothly, including special projects, mailings, collating and copying.da
Hours: daytime hours, varies per week.

MedicAlert® + Alzheimer’s Association Safe Return®
Provide clerical support to the effort to register persons with dementia who may wander from home and become lost. The registry is the information source for a national alert program.
Hours: 4 daytime hours, per week. Must be detail-oriented.

Advocacy 
Add your VOICE to ours by becoming an advocate today. Help generate action from our elected officials by making calls and writing letters. Stay on top of policy and legislative issues through alerts and updates and help elevate Alzheimer’s from a disease to a cause.
Hours: Can be done from home on your own time by responding to monthly action alerts.
